2021 The Year of the Hierophant
Beliefs, Balance and New Paths

The year 2020 was like no other year in memory.
It was a year that wasn’t easy and it was a year of important lessons.
Throughout 2020 we outgrew many accepted ways of life, experienced first-hand the changes we need to start making to clear old beliefs, and came face-to-face with what from the past needs to be let go. We learned about patience and about our strengths while enduring uncertainty, fear and grief. We handled everything that came our way with resilience which became an everyday necessity. We know that we can no longer return to how things were but instead we need to look at the world with a broader view to enable us to make the necessary progress and changes to move into our future.
In Numerology, the year 2021 is a 5 year (2+0+2+1=5), and the number 5 Tarot card of the Major Arcana is The Hierophant.

Five is the number of kindness, courage, and sensitivity but also of stress, uncertainty, tension, instability, and struggle. Five is liberty, transition, flexibility and opportunities to change. Balancing personal freedoms with the greater good and the collective. Of the conflict between what you feel and what you know and ultimately need and want. Five is about adapting to thrive in different environments, social situations and ones full of possibilities.

The Hierophant is a card that represents belief systems and time-honored traditions. It is about wisdom, spirituality, and institutions that support us. About listening to those with more experience and knowledge but at the same time questioning and learning. It is you as a student, accessing this knowledge, and it is you as a teacher, imparting it.
It is about unity and service and being of service.
It symbolizes a need to conform and social approval on the one hand, and defying the status quo and seeking the truth on the other.
It is about social groups, conventionality, education, knowledge, and beliefs.
It is about knowing how to solve problems even though it isn't easy and the results won’t happen immediately.
It is about standing up for your beliefs and ‘doing the right thing’.
The Hierophant brings healing and a spiritual perspective, revealing that there is more to life than just materialism – it is about the journey within to find your balance. To determine what existing conventions, rules, and well-established procedures need to be reviewed, which ones to follow and which will need to be rewritten. What to pursue and what to let go.

It will be a year of laying down the principles that will affect needed change and will help you investigate the existing beliefs that you have and see what value they hold for you in the future. Keep an open mind. The Hierophant has the power and knowledge to manifest change and bring harmony. To unlock the gates of knowledge and wisdom.

Starting with 2021, we will be rebuilding our lives, individually, societally and globally, in new and different ways. Creating harmony in the face of crisis, releasing limiting thoughts, beliefs, activities and outdated expectations and plans of doing things in the old ways of doing. Of moving out of our comfort zones to take risks. Of connecting beliefs with actions. About finding the wisdom to move forward through personal experience.

While personal changes are inevitable, foolish risk-taking and pointless rebellion are not. We don’t need to throw away everything from our past. A conventional approach to problem solving and consulting experts would work best right now until we can get our bearings and sense of direction. Adapt certain beliefs and systems which are already in place and are existing, prior to seeking new, progressive and innovative ways.

This is a card of challenge and hardship that can bring growth and achievement. This year there will be transpersonal forces not in our direct control. We will have to think carefully about what we want to create, and call upon our collective wisdom and knowledge to successfully navigate it. We will need to analyze our situations, and let reason guide us, not emotions and passion. Look at how maintaining the status quo is affecting our lives and not project our own expectations onto the issues.
Our energies will need to be focused on building a new reality for the future with a focus on community and social responsibility. New beginnings with higher ideals.
Of building from the ground up even when faced with resistance and difficulties.
Creating stable foundations upon which to build our new future.
Of having faith, support and structure in our own communities.
About helping others and each other.
Thinking globally and acting locally.
It's not what you have that’s going to be important
It will be what you are contributing to the world that will matter more.
None of us has all the answers. We are all discovering new paths into the future that have many unknowns, a few unexpected surprises, and with the fears accompanying us from the past setting up barriers. This year will require great effort, patience, tolerance, and many adjustments will need to be made. Much will be asked from each and every person. But we need to take one step, our first step, forward to start our journey on the new road ahead.
As the year progresses, it will become clear that we have individual and collective responsibilities, that our actions have consequences, and we must work together to create a better tomorrow for ourselves, our communities and our world.
Our hope lies within each of us

And with each other.
May the spirit of love and peace fill your hearts and lives.
Joyful and Peaceful Blessings,
Lisa Luna
