Values, Goals and New Energy

There is a lot going on with this New Moon Aquarius which falls on January 31st or February 1st, depending on your time zone. This New Moon is even more powerful as it occurs on the same day of the start of the Lunar New Year, which is celebrated around the world and is a time of new beginnings.

This Lunar year will be the Year of the Water Tiger (Water years end in numbers 2 or 3 and the last Water Tiger year was 1962). The Tiger is a fierce, brave, and courageous animal, signaling that this year ahead is one where we can conquer our fears and go for our goals. Signs, serendipities and psychic visions as ideas and solutions could arrive supernaturally. It is also about making big changes. There is no dream too big or ambition too great in the year of the Tiger!

Right before the Lunar Year begins, traditionally, many take the time to clean the house and reduce clutter, clearing away the old and creating space for fresh new energy. The past is forgiven-others and yourself, and a new, inspired mindset is also encouraged. Where can you clean, declutter and above all, forgive?

February 1st is also the day of the ancient Celtic religious festival, Imbolc, one of the eight Sabbats for modern Wiccans, but also a Gaelic holiday celebrated by many faiths. It symbolizes the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, and is a time of new beginnings. Remember the intentions you made for this New Year? Now is the time to clear the way for them to grow, symbolically, and literally.

An Aquarius New Moon holds strong air energy, so any actions you take to bring new energy into your life will inspire new ways of thinking and creative ideas while identifying and letting go of old habits or ways of thinking and being that have been making you feel stuck, bored, or slowed down. Recognizing is the first step, followed by choosing differently.

Get out of your own way. Shift out of limiting thinking and take a hard look at all the ways you are holding yourself back and possibly self-sabotaging your goals and plans. Look for the patterns in your life you are tired of repeating. These are the ones you are ready to finally overcome once and for all, even though it can take time for old patterns to be replaced with new ones. And once these changes happen, it will move you into a more hopeful and abundant mindset opening you to the opportunities for some serious ah-ha moments resulting in a sense of a deeper passion and purpose to whatever you are turning your attention to.

It’s not too late. If there is something that you've wanted to do, something that you truly wanted to achieve, now is the time to make plans to go after it. This New Moon provides the energy, willpower and discipline for making your dreams a reality. Show the Universe you are now serious about making space for more of what you do want.

Saturn will be showing up with this New Moon and its influence will be some real-world lessons giving you a much needed reality check. You may be forced to confront something you have not been taking responsibility for in your life, or a challenge that is necessary in order to achieve your goals because Saturn knows you can handle them and wants you to ask the hard questions to ensure that what you say you want and your actions are in alignment. Saturn always leaves rewards whenever it stirs lessons in our lives and gives you the perseverance needed to stand the test of time, so now is the perfect time to put together long-term goals.

During the next six months, you will become aware of how certain core values and relationships need to shift which will have you reconsidering your values and what is truly important to you and learning the importance of valuing yourself. It will be a time to clear anything and everything and everybody that is not in sync with your new values. Take some time to reflect on how your tastes, preferences and values have changed - honestly notice who and what you have completely moved away from – relationships, sources of information, social media blogs, old ways of marketing and business, clubs, groups, teams - that are no longer on your wavelength. For what you value and what is worth your time will be worth your energy.

Aquarius is the sign most associated with social interactions and networking, friend groups and group dynamics. Focus on creating community – your community. Find people you resonate with because right now you could be feeling both a part of a group and separate from it. But it’s not just as simple as finding your tribe. It’s about envisioning new and better ways to connect with those outside your inner circle. Seek out people who support your purpose and share your vision and goals. Find people who propel you to go forward and really go after your dreams. Focus on commonalities instead of the things that divide. Collaborate with others who have common ideals as you while at the same time keeping an open mind to a wide spectrum of viewpoints, opinions, personalities, interests. You never know where things may lead and how your world could change for the better.

The 6 of Swords is about transition, of leaving behind what was familiar or not working and moving towards the unknown. This may be not easy and situations may not be ideal but it is movement towards something more positive of a different kind and from one state of mind to another.

The Ace of Wands says now is a good time to start something new. That it is a new personal beginning filled with inspiration and new opportunities, a new way of thinking. Of illuminating ideas and unique plans. Of expanding your potential.
