Mercury Retrograde in Libra and Virgo

This Sept. 9th is the start of a Mercury retrograde period. The actual ‘event’ is simply an optical illusion where the planet appears to change course and move backwards in the sky, usually three or four times a year. But according to astrology, it can upend things in your well-planned life:
You could experience difficulties with technology and anything electric
Your personal connections and communications get off track
Anything to do with travel can go sideways
People may be more forgetful at this time
Conversations and decisions may be revisited
Ex’s – partners, friends, coworkers, bosses - could resurface
Even objects, messages or paperwork that had been lost may be found.
Yes, things may turn “upside down” — but sometimes that reversal is exactly what you need. It gives you the opportunity to reflect and to plan out changes that could make your life better and happier.

Mercury, the planet of communications, is going retrograde in relationship oriented diplomatic Libra on Sept. 9th, 2022. Libra is the sign of balance, harmony, and negotiation. If the give-and-take is lopsided in any of your important relationships, it’s about to become a very big deal—especially during the Libra portion of the retrograde, which lasts until Sept. 23. After that, Mercury backtracks into picky, perfectionistic Virgo until Oct. 2, and this isn’t going to make matters any easier.

While you can’t escape Mercury’s yearly trio of retrogrades, you can learn to work with them by preempting the drama that gets thrown in your direction. To avoid misunderstandings during this retrograde, check to see where things are out of balance and then slow down, revisit, reevaluate, and analyze all the one-on-one relationships in your life and reflect on their boundaries and focus on bringing improvements to these partnerships. Even the best relationships could drift into choppy waters between now and October 2. Patience will be required to keep things on an even keel.

Hidden past events and dealings will be revealed and truths will be uncovered. Those who have anything to hide will be exposed. Old relationships – those people who are a total blast from the past - may come back into your life in some way, or you may feel it necessary to leave some relationships in the past thereby finally tying up loose ends related to those relationships.

And since Libra is associated with legal matters, try not to agree to or sign any documents until after October 2nd. If you must, thoroughly review and review again, checking the fine print and small details in any contracts and other legal papers that you may need to sign at this time. This deep dive could save you future legal misunderstandings and issues. Knowledge is power – the path to feel safe and secure.

When it goes into Virgo on September 23rd until October 10th, it may have you tackling the everyday to-dos that you've been putting off as well as rethinking how you're caring for your health. You may need to address the motivation and actions behind your daily habits, particularly those that relate to your well-being. Be aware of any negative self-talk, self-criticism, and self-judgment during this time and nip it before it becomes too overwhelming.

Mercury is considered the planet of thoughts, communication, technology, and travel, and its retrograde phase can sometimes create delays, indecision, mishaps, and miscommunications. It is essential to think twice before speaking or writing. There is an increased risk of offending people and promising too much. Try to be more conservative, considerate and modest. And patient. Knowing what is ahead during this time will be crucial in getting prepared to have far more patience in dealing with things.

The patience of the High Priestess is the patience to be still, to be silent, to look within. Instead of trying to control the narrative, look for potential and possibilities. Temperance indicates a time to evaluate and re-examine various areas of your life. This will help you realign a balance between your outer and inner self. Time to recover your flow and get your life back into order and balance.

Mercury Retrograde reminds you to look at things from a different perspective and is a time to allow you to go within and listen to your own inner world rather than the voices of the world around you. To slow down and take your time. It also encourages you to reflect and look back over the past before proceeding ahead. By being proactive, you can circumvent the challenges this time brings forth.
