Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio

Expect the Unexpected, Turning Points

Often referred to as the Flower Moon, May's Full Moon is named for all the abundant blooming flowers in the month of May. It is also the first lunar eclipse of 2023 with the Moon in Scorpio, which will be the last eclipse in Scorpio until 2031.
Full Moons are a time of unbalanced and illuminated energy, bringing finality to circumstances. Scorpio is a zodiac sign tied to transformation and rebirth since it is ruled by both Mars and Pluto. This Full Moon Eclipse in Scorpio is about expecting the unexpected and the need to balance conditions around money, your partner’s income, possessions, values, power and control and also about banks, insurance matters, credit lines, debts, and taxes.

Become aware of what is blocking you from being able to move forward. The Eclipse is on the South Node of the past and suggests that a release of something from the past will be necessary before it can be resolved. Approaching this consciously will help to avoid the kinds of situations in which emotions explode from nowhere.

This is a good time to clear out your closets:
Physically
Mentally
Spiritually
Assess what you value and what needs to be released and what needs to stay. Purge away old emotional baggage that’s been weighing you down, shedding worn-out stories you tell yourself, and letting go of emotionally charged fears, dreams and memories.
Do a thorough examination and sloughing off of outgrown narratives, relationship patterns, unproductive partnerships, and outdated beliefs and behaviors that no longer resonate with or work for you.
Pay attention to the news the lunar eclipse brings on the day of the event, within the week of it or even a month after, for ultimately it may dramatically shift your life. Sometimes the very sense of who you are is the result of the evolution from within, but other times you meet that force from the outside. This is a time that is emotionally filled with powerful, unexpected endings, turning points and conclusions to a story that’s been weaving in your life for the past 18 months. It is a time of decisions and a mark of culmination around money matters, relationships, and what you couldn’t understand or didn’t say before.

Mercury will also be retrograde during this period, which means that you may be dealing with people, situations, and plans from the distant and/or the near past. Look for news that provides a spotlight of truth giving you more information than you previously had regarding those matters and finally allowing for closure.

Uranus is also in this mix making matters more chaotic and having you feel more rebellious, impulsive, and intense as you push to take matters in your own hands while striving for freedom and change at all costs. This would not be a good time to make sudden decisions, especially with relationships. Regardless of what is thrown at you, do your best to ground yourself and let a few weeks go by before making any serious decisions.
This eclipse will affect everyone differently. You could make discoveries, experience flashes of insight, or meet exciting new people who challenge your views and thinking not only about yourself but the world around you. But in order to do so, embrace the overall theme that is related to the 8 of Cups Tarot card, which is about something ending, leaving it behind and then setting forth, unencumbered, on a new journey.
For some, it may be akin to The Hanged Man Tarot card, which asks you to release the old ways that no longer serve you so you can see things from a new perspective and embrace new opportunities. Take time to connect with a new way of thinking, seeing, being. Perhaps you find that your perspective of a relationship is shifting altogether. Acceptance and letting go are key during this time.
To one extent or another, this is also the beginnings of the changes in our perception of the world. In order to adapt to the new paradigm, you, as an individual and everyone else on this Earth, may need to let go of the values and beliefs which have provided the foundation of our world for a lifetime.
For others it may be like The Tower card, which unexpectedly and dramatically upends your life but ultimately is an invitation to welcome the changes, turning points and endings even if they are different from what you had worked towards and expected. This will give you the revelations to make major changes, bringing forth something even better that is meant for you. What you’re called to set free now will be deeply transformative.
And others might experience this as The Fool card energies. The Fool’s journey has unexpected surprises and situations that land completely out of the blue, hence the element of surprise. It can bring unanticipated opportunities that beckon you down new and unfamiliar pathways, and possibly something outside of your usual comfort zone.
Ultimately, it is up to you how to deal with this eclipse energy. Clarify what you want to grow in your life and which everyday choices can nourish those dreams. Your ideas for the future will become clearer and clearer especially how you integrate the changes that will enable you to be the writer the story of your life. So, allow the Universe to offer you something different and new and start to see the future you are creating.
